PUERTO PRINCESA City Tour

BSIT02 Summer Getaway 2009
February 21-25
* this post is long overdue. Pardon me.

Palawan is one of my dream destinations here in the country.
I was very excited that I wasn't able to sleep well the night before. Hehe.

Annually, my college batchmates gather for our summer get together.
This has been our tra
dition for 6 years now.
This year was done a little bit earlier than usual.

We are travelling backpacker's style as always.
No travel agency. Just researched and book tickets and accommodations by ourselves.

We flew Cebu to Palawan with Cebu Pacific Airlines.
Arrived Palawan Airport in Puerto Princesa 10 mins earlier than scheduled.
Their airport that time was still under renovation.

Took trike to Banwa Pension - our home in Puerto Princesa.
The place is really cool. Lots of crafts and native stuffs made by the owner.
They've got self-service bar and an internet connection.

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY TOUR
Started our City Tour after our yummy lunch from Badjao Restaurant.

PALAWAN MUSEUM
The Tabon Man skull cap and the Manunggol jar caught our attention.
I can't believe it I saw them with my very own eyes.

PLAZA CUARTEL
One of the forts before.
According to the story, when the Japanese was about to be defeated, they gathered some 143 American soldiers to the underground tunnel. They burned the soldiers alive. There were survivors. They were able to find passage from the tunnel to the sea and swam to Iwahig.

IMMACULATE CONCEPCION CATHEDRAL
Beside the plaza is t
heir church.
Said our prayers and took photos before leaving.

PALAWAN WILDLIFE RESCUE and CONSERVATION CENTER
This is the place usually referred to as the Crocodile Farm.
Very big place lots of only-in-Palawan animals here.
There are also lots of crocodiles here. wah!
Saw in their hatchling area, thousands of baby crocs.
Outside, there are also very big ones.

I was able to hold a baby croc.
A bit heavy then the skin is really hard and thick.
I guess only Nina wasnt able to do it. She's really scared.

IWAHIG PRISON and PENAL FARM
The prison without gates.
Prisoners could roam around the place.
They tend their rice fields, vegetable patches, and animals.
Already a little town inside.

We bought some of our pasalubongs there.

RANCHO STA. MONICA
Mitrases' Property

The house sits on the top of the hill.
Relaxing place.

BAKER'S HILL
The yummiest hopia I ever tasted (ube, mongo, and pork).
Always freshly made. Still hot when we got ours.

KA LUI dinner
By reservation only.
The place is always full.

Feasted on their yummy food.
Wah! after touring the city, this is the best way to cap the night.

El Nido trip the next day.

We recommend them for giving us the best service:
